During our time in Copenhagen’s famous Tivoli Gardens, we had stumbled upon a cute little café called Cakenhagen. The both of us were a little too full from the prix fixe meal we had been digesting from the restaurant across to opt into the delicious cakes and petit fours seen behind the glass counter. We had decided to burn off the calories and digest our meals by taking a lovely stroll around the garden, visiting the tiny aquarium (piranhas!) and having fun on as many amusement park rides as possible.
The moment we had burned enough energy off to make room for our ‘dessert stomachs’, we made the light stroll back to the front end of the garden and found ourselves a table at Cakenhagen. My white chocolate, vanilla bean rhubarb cake was not only light and refreshing, it was a lovely compliment to the live music that was playing on one of the stages in the vicinity. The chocolate mousse cake across from me was surprisingly light and not too rich, with edible gold foil on top to create a high class, low budget treat.
